The backdrop of the tower is the dramatic cliff of columnar basalt which forms the walls of the gorge. At the southern end of the park stands the central tower “Embarta” or the “horse”. They towers were formed by semi-molten rock being forced through a fissure, cooling of molten lava. A black glass-like rock can be found everywhere, formed by the rapid cooling of molten lava. Buffalo are particuraly dangerous. -Drive to the picnic areas, park the car and use your binoculars. -Do not drive off roads as this will cause soil erosion.
