14 days Mount Kenya Climb combined with a Walking Safari
Day
00: On your arrival:
Arrival day, meet and greet with our staff at Jomo-kenyatta International
Airport and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi town for the tour
briefing, payments and overnight at hotel booked on bed and breakfast.
Day 1: Fire Tower Campsite
Leave Nairobi at 8.00 am and drive through central Kenya viewing
agricultural farms to arrive Nyeri town where together with an armed
Ranger, cook, porters and Guide you transfer to Wandere Gate where
you start the hike through the forest to Fire Tower Campsite for
dinner and overnight in Tents. 4-5 hrs.
Day 2: Honi River
After breakfast like through the moorland viewing the high altitude
flowers to the Satima peak 4001m the highest point at the Aberdares
where weather permitting you will be able to view Mt. Kenya to the
East and the Great Rift valley to the West. Return to your camp
and proceed to Honi River for dinner and overnight in tents. 7-8
hrs.
Day 3: Reedbuck camp
After breakfast hike through the moorland across the Ranges to Chania
waterfalls. Proceed to the Reedback camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Nanyuki
Visit the famous Queens Cave and the highest waterfall Karura and
Gura before taking a transfer to Nanyuki with a breathtaking break
at the Equator and later proceed to a hotel for a hot shower and
a relaxed night.
Day 5: Old Moses Camp (3300M)
Together with our guide, cook and porters, transfer to sirimon park
gate where you start the hike through the forest where wildlife
and birdlife are encountered. Proceed to Old Moses Camp (3300m)
for dinner and overnight. 3-4 hrs walk.
Day 6: Shipton Camp
After breakfast, hike through the moorland viewing high altitude
flowers like Lobelia, senecio and more vegetation as well as animals
living in high altitude like Hyrax. Ascend through Mackinder's valley
with a super view of the main peaks to arrive shipton camp for dinner
and overnight. 6-7 hrs walk.
Day 7: Point Lenana
Early morning tea (2.30 am) and start the ascent to point Lenana
4985m for a superb view from the summit during sunrise. With a clear
whether, you can see the beautiful countryside as far as Kilimanjaro
to the south. After photographic moment around the peak, descend
via Austrian hut to Mackinders camp for breakfast and proceed down
to met-station (3050m) for dinner and overnight 10 hrs walk.
Day 8: Naro Moru Gate/ Naivasha
After breakfast descend leisurely through the forest to connect
your transfer off the mountain at Naro Moru gate and proceed to
Naivasha for overnight.
Day 9: Naivasha
Morning transfer to Elsa Gate of Hell's Gate National Park where
you start the hike through the upper Gorge to Fischer's Tower where
we have a climbing Rock. Continue down viewing animals like Giraffe,
Buffaloes, Elands and other plain game and bird to Rangers Post.
Enter the lower Gorge leading to the Hot Springs and return to the
post where you connect via Olkaria Geothermal Power Station and
return to your camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Loita
After breakfast, drive through the floor of the Great Rift Valley
towards south-west via Narok town Maji Moto where you walk for two
and a half hrs to the campsite. Evening walk around Masai village
and interlact with this community as they come to have a bath at
the Hot springs. Dinner and overnight in a campsite.
Day 11: Motorok campsite
After the breakfast, break your camp and trek with our Maasai guide
and porter through the Masai trails encountering this community
at their day-to-day activities. Plain games can be encountered at
the Loitahill. Dinner and overnight at Motorok campsite.
Day 12: Morijo Campsite
Break your camp in the morning and hike through a modern Maasai
village Narosora and proceed to Morijo for dinner and overnight
in a campsite.
Day 13: Engutoto
After breakfast hike through the only remaining indigenous forest
where Colobus Monkeys and Birds can be encountered to Engutoto for
dinner and overnight.
Day 14: Ngurumani Village/ Olorgeseile/ Nairobi
After breakfast break your camp and trek through the valley crossing
Entosopia river several times before you ascend to the top of the
view point of the Great Rift Valley. A photographic break is worthy
at this panoramic view descending to Lake Natron to the south and
Gong Hills to the North before you descend down to the Ngurumani
Village at the bottom where you connect your transfer through Lake
Magadi and the Historic Site Olorgeseile on your way to Nairobi
to arrive late afternoon where the safari ends.
