KENYA CLIMBING:
Mt.
Kenya was formed between 2.6 and 3.1 million years ago due to
volcanic lava eruptions of successive layers.The streams on the
North and North-western segment of the mountain drain to the Ewaso-Ngiro
river whose waters are lost in the Lorian swamps in North Eastern
Kenya.
At access to any peak of a mountain, climbers or walkers are confronted
with certain unique and potentially serious problems associated
with high altitude or lack of enough breathing air and the most
common problem is Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). High percent
of the people while getting to the peak feel ROUGH. They feel
loss of appetite, headache, nausea and vomiting and thus we do
not recommend fast walking as you will more likely feel the effects
of altitude and feel ill. If in any case a climber feels these
Symptoms, stop ascending and seriously consider descending to
a lower altitude in order to allow better aclimatization to take
place.
We have different routes that are used often to ascend the Mountain.
These are: SIRIMON ROUTE, CHOGORIA ROUTE, KAMWETI ROUTE, NARU
MORU ROURE, UMBWE ROUTE AND OTHERS.
