MT. KENYA CLIMBING: SIRIMON ROUTE:
Explore Mount Kenya and discover Africa 's second highest mountain. With a summit covered in snow and ice it's difficult to imagine that it's situated astride the equator!

Mount Kenya has plenty of wildlife to view, particularly on the lower slopes of the mountain. You can expect to see elephant, rhino, buffalo leopard, bushbuck, several species of duiker, giant forest hog, and colobus and Sykes monkeys. There is also prolific birdlife around the mountain, ranging from huge eagles to multicoloued sunbirds.

NSMC02: 5 Days Mount Kenya-Sirimon Route
Sirimon route is the least used because it is on the dry side of the mountain but offers some of the finest forest walking that is to be found on any tropical mountain.Just at the park gate, you find large stands of Cedar and podocarpus trees while as you go up you find huge spacimens of St. John's Wortinterpersed with small thickets of Bamboo. Up higher see the giant heather, beautiful alpine flowers and some tussock grass. You might be lucky to find animals like Buffallos, Elephants and at other times Lion.

Day 1: Nairobi/Nanyuki
Depart Nairobi accompanied by your mountain guide for Nanyuki. Lunch, dinner and the rest of the day acclimatizing at a Nanyuki budget hotel.

Day 2: Nanyuki/Old Moses hut
Transfer from your Nanyuki hotel after breakfast by means of a Land-rover to Sirimon Gate where climbing begins. Walk through the rain forest for 9 kms, 5 hours walk to the first mountain hut, Old Moses at 3,300m for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Old Moses/Shipton camp
After breakfast, continue with the ascent through Mackinder's valley to the second hut, Shipton Hut at 4,200 m for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Shipton/Point Lenana/Old Moses
Early morning climb to point Lenana 4985 m. On a very clear day, you will be able to see Mount Kilimanjaro in the South, Mt. Elgon in the West and Indian Ocean to the East. Descend to Shipton Camp for the main breakfast and thereafter descend to Old Moses for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Old Moses/Nairobi
After breakfast, transfer to Nanyuki to catch up with your transport back to Nairobi.

NSMC05: 5 Days Mount Kenya Up Sirimon Route, Down Chogoria Route
Day 1: Nairobi/Nanyuki
Depart Nairobi accompanied by our mountain guide for Nanyuki arriving in time for lunch. Dinner and the rest of the day acclimatizing at a Nanyuki budget hotel.

Day 2: Nanyuki/Old Moses hut
Transfer from your Nanyuki hotel after breakfast to Sirimon Gate where climbing begins. Walk through the rain forest for 9 kms; 5 hours walk to the first mountain hut, Old Moses at 3,300m for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Old Moses/Shipton camp
After breakfast, continue with the ascent through Mackinder's valley to the second hut, Shipton Hut at 4,200 m for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Shipton/Point Lenana/Mintos Hut/Road Head
Early morning climb to point Lenana 4985 m. On a very clear day, you will be able to see Mount Kilimanjaro in the South, Mt. Elgon in the West and Indian Ocean to the East. Descend to Mintos Hut (4250 m) for breakfast and thereafter proceed to Road Head for lunch, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: RoadHead/Chogoria/ Nairobi
After breakfast, an early walk takes you to Chogoria for lunch. After lunch catch up with your transport back to Nairobi.
