NARO MORU ROUTE
Explore Mount Kenya and discover Africa 's second highest mountain.
With a summit covered in snow and ice it's difficult to imagine
that it's situated astride the equator!
Mount Kenya has plenty of wildlife to view, particularly on the
lower slopes of the mountain. You can expect to see elephant, rhino,
buffalo leopard, bushbuck, several species of duiker, giant forest
hog, and colobus and
Sykes monkeys. There is also prolific birdlife around the mountain,
ranging from huge eagles to multicoloued sunbirds.

Days Mount Kenya-Naro Moru Route
Naro Moru route is the fastest to point Lenana but the least snenic
or pleasant of the three principal routes up the mountain but likely
to remain the most popular. Hotels found on these route offers walkers
excellent facilities in the form of equipment hire, porters as well
as accommodation.
Day 1: Nairobi/Naro Moru
Depart Nairobi for Naro Moru town for lunch. After lunch drive to
the Youth Hostel for the rest of the day and night acclimatizing.
Day 2: Naro Moru/Met. Station
After breakfast leave the hostel and drive to the main gate. Start
ascending the mountain through the rain forest for ten kilometers
to the Meteorological Station for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Met. Station/Mackinders Hut
After breakfast, continue with the ascent through a police Radio
relay station to exit the forest, cross the Taleki Valley and continue
gently to arrive at Mackinder's camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Mackinders Hut/Point Lenana/Met. Station
Early morning rise at around 2.30 a.m. and attempt point Lenana
(17,058 ft) via Austrian Hut. After Point Lenana, descend to Mackinder's
camp for breakfast and the down to Met. Station for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Met. station/Nairobi
After breakfast, make the last descent of the mountain from Met.
Station via Naro Moru main gate for a short drive to Naro Moru town
to catch up with your transport back to Nairobi
